Long-term Goals have Time Frame over 1year.

ULTIMATE GOAL ( LONG-TERM) SHOULD BE BIG ENOUGH TO SCARE YOU AND MOTIVATE YOU . Goals should be written as if there were no limitations and as if you had a magic wand to make it all possible. Your current education, income or limitations should not limit your goals. Goals should come from your big dream.

Ask yourself these questions…
“Where do I want to be in 12 months?”
e.g
I want to earn 1 million GB pounds per by october 2016.
“Where do I want to be in 5 years?”
eg
I want to earn 2 million by Oct 2017.
I want to earn 4 million by Oct 2018.
I want to earn 7 million by Oct 2020.
“Where do I want to be in 10 years?”
e.g
40 million Net worth
“Where do I want to be in 25 years?”
e.g

Short-term Goals (STG) :

Your long term goals need to be broken down in smaller time frame to make them realistic and measurable. e.g I want 1 million per year then breaking it down to per month or per week or daily goals. This will help monitor progress and you can accelerate exponentially from small goal.

e.g” I gave a commitment to my wife that I would participate in a 100 mile charity cycling event. The maximum distance I had ever done was 3-4 miles . I was young and fit and I believed that I would be able do it with some practise. So I started with a easy achievable smaller goal of 1 mile per day in the first week which I easily achieved. Then I raised the STG to 2 mile, 4 miles and then 10 miles. I was comfortable doing 25 miles in week 5. Then I teamed up with my friends who are very experienced cyclist and in week 7 I could cycle 50 mile in one go. Achieving small goals was fun and kept me going. I had to buy a road bike before the event because I realized I was practicing on a mountain bike which was great for practise but was not the event right vehicle for the event. Finally I completed the 100 miles event the following week. ”

WHILE THE SMALLER COMPONENTS OF THE GOALS SHOULD BE ACHIEVABLE AND SHOULD THEN PUT YOU IN GOAL ACHIEVING MODE/MINDSET.

You might have short term goal like I want to swim 4 days week for next 6 months. You can make this as part of your long goal to make it big and inspiring eg I want to swim the English channel by 2017 ( 100 weeks from now ).

Brainstorming:

Write down all goals that you want to accomplish.
Keep a small dairy and write down what ever comes to your mind.
Just keep writing.
Write down in any order
If you are married, it is important both of you do it together e.g common financial goals. you may have different fitness goal like exercise.
Same applies to business partners, both should have common goals for business.
